Serum Institute seeks permission to build Sputinik vaccine

The Serum Institute of India (SII) has sought permission from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to manufacture Russia’s covid-19 Vaccine Sputinic V in India. A Pune-based vaccine manufacturing facility has also sought permission for further analysis and testing of the vaccine.

Dr. Reddy Laboratories is currently permitted to build a specific V in India. Sources said the Serum Institute of India sought permission yesterday. The Serum Institute had earlier informed the central government that it intends to construct and distribute 10 crores covishiled vaccine in June. Apart from this, the production of the Novak vaccine is also taking place at the Serum Institute.
