Jehovah’s Witnesses Enhance Security Measures Following Kalamassery Blasts

Despite the tragic events of the Kalamassery blasts in Kerala on October 29, Jehovah’s Witnesses remain steadfast in their commitment to the safety and security of their members. Satish Joseph, a representative from the Public Information Department at the national headquarters in Bengaluru, expressed the organization’s determination to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. The newly introduced security measures, including scanners, detectors, and armed security guards, are now mandatory for all conventions following the October 29 attacks. The organization is absorbing the costs of these enhanced security measures through donations and voluntary contributions from its members.

In addition to the immediate steps taken for larger gatherings, Jehovah’s Witnesses have emphasized their continuous commitment to safety at regular meeting places, known as Kingdom Halls. These locations already have security measures in place, such as attendants at entrances, evacuation plans, fire extinguishers, and CCTV cameras. While the organization acknowledges the shock and trauma experienced by its members after the recent blasts, it is actively providing support, both emotionally and practically, to those affected.

Looking ahead, Jehovah’s Witnesses are open to collaboration with law enforcement authorities, underscoring the priority of ensuring the safety and well-being of their community members. The organization’s response reflects a blend of resilience and a commitment to adapting security protocols in an ever-changing world, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of the present times.
