Juhi Chawla fined Rs 20 lakh; The court called the petition a publicity stunt

The Delhi High Court rejected actress Juhi Chawla’s petition against the implementation of 5G technology in India. The court imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the move of the actress and her associates for allegedly being a publicity stunt.

The judge said that the actress approached the court seeking fame through the media. The judgement also said that without any knowledge of the facts, the petition was filled with unnecessary and trivial matters. The court also sharply criticised the actress for posting a link to the virtual hearing on social media in the Covid situation.

The unidentified persons who entered through this link had created a lot of hassle by singing the film during the court hearing.

Juhi Chawla, Veeresh Malik and Tina Vechani approached the court alleging that starting 5G service in India would cause problems for people’s health. The actress, who is working to create awareness against radiofrequency radiation, filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the implementation of 5G.

Juhi Chawla had said in the petition that there had been no serious studies on the health problems caused by wireless technology and the general assessment was that it was harmful to health. If 5G becomes a reality, humans, animals, birds, insects and plants will suffer the consequences on earth. They also said that radio radiation would increase by 10 to 100 times the existing level.

The court also said that action would be taken against those who obstructed the hearing. During Wednesday’s hearing, someone repeatedly interrupted by singing songs from Juhi Chawla’s films. Three times someone entered the virtual courtroom on the WebX platform and started singing songs like ‘Mary Banno Ki Ayegi Barat’. Unknown persons appeared on the screen under the names of actresses ‘Manisha Koirala’ and ‘Janhvi’. Considering the case, J.R Midha initially asked them to mute. But then they unmuted and sang. When Solicitor General T Tushar Mehta argued, many of those who had heard him had come forward with emojis against his arguments.
