Kerala Records Over 13 Million ABHA IDs in Digital Health Mission

Kerala has achieved a significant milestone in the digital health mission by registering over 13 million Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA IDs) as of September 23. This initiative, introduced by the Indian government, aims to create a centralized repository of health-related information for citizens across the country.

The registration process is now underway, with healthcare professionals, including Asha workers, assisting individuals in the registration process. People can register for ABHA IDs on the official website using their Aadhaar numbers. The government ensures that all stored health information will remain highly secure and confidential. Access to an individual’s health records will only be granted with their knowledge and consent. This initiative not only enables healthcare professionals to access a person’s medical records across various facilities but also holds the potential to enhance e-health and telehealth services in the future.

Key Statistics as of September 23:

  • Kerala has recorded a total of 13,943,975 health IDs or Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts.
  • Health records linked to these IDs number 317,856,47.
  • There are 219,674 verified healthcare facilities in the Health Facility Registry.
  • The count of Verified Healthcare Professionals stands at 229,126.

Benefits of the ABHA IDs initiative include:

  • Centralized storage of all medical information in a digital format, eliminating the need to carry paper medical records.
  • Quick access to information such as drug prescriptions, test results, diagnoses, and vaccination records.
  • Convenience in seeking follow-up treatment anywhere in the country.
  • Easy sharing of medical records among hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers.
  • Access to the Healthcare Professional Registry, a comprehensive database of doctors in India.
  • Access to the Health Facility Registry, a directory of both government and private medical facilities.
