Covid death toll crosses 10,000 in Kerala; 9,313 cases reported on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 9,313 new Covid cases on Monday, informed a press release issued by the health department. With 221 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 10,157. Test positivity rate was recorded at 13.2 per cent.

Of those confirmed, 52 came from outside the state. 8570 people were affected by contact. The source of contact with 645 people is unclear. The contact swells are Thiruvananthapuram 1386, Palakkad 599, Ernakulam 925, Thrissur 919, Malappuram 883, Kollam 853, Alappuzha 794, Kozhikode 645, Kottayam 438, Kannur 401, Idukki 218, Kasaragod 210, Pathanamthitta 186 and Wayanad 113.

Forty-six health workers were infected. Kannur 11, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam 6 each, Kollam, Kasaragod 4 each, Wayanad 3, Thrissur, Palakkad 2 each, Alappuzha and Kottayam 1 each. With this, 147,830 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are being treated. 24,83,992 people have so far recovered from covid.

There are now 6,32,868 persons under observation in various districts. Of these, 5,93,807 are under observation in house/institutional quarantine and 39,061 in hospitals. 2297 people were newly admitted to the hospital. No new hots, 2 areas excluded. There are currently 889 hotspots.
