After over a year’s break, Deepika Padukone is all set to come back to the big screen with Chhapaak. The trailer of the film has just been launched.
Our lady superstar is playing the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in Chhapaak. The trailer shows the journey Malti (Deepika’s character in the film). How she hates her face after the attack and learns to love it.
Laxmi Agarwal was attacked in 2005 when she was just 15 years old. The attacker was a 32-year-old man who was trying to make advances towards her.
Laxmi battled for life after the attack. After surviving the attack, she started a campaign called Stop Sale Acid to regulate sale of acid in the country. Deepika has also turned producer with Chhapaak.
The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Deepika Padukone and Meghna Gulzar in collaboration with Fox Star Studios. The film was announced on 24 December 2018 by Padukone on her Twitter account, revealing the details of the film.
Principal photography of the film commenced on 25 March 2019 and was wrapped on 4 June, it is scheduled for release on January 10, 2020.
