Extended Rain Forecast for Kerala with Yellow Alert in Three Districts

The state of Kerala is set to experience a prolonged period of heavy rainfall, as per the latest weather advisory. The downpour is expected to persist for the next five days, with a particular focus on the central and southern regions, as indicated by forecasts from the Central Meteorological Department. A yellow alert has been issued for three districts: Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram, effective immediately. Furthermore, there is a potential low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.

A cyclonic gyre, currently situated in the central-eastern Bay of Bengal near the Myanmar coastline, is projected to intensify and transform into a low-pressure system in the northwest Bay of Bengal within the next two days. Consequently, heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated locations.

Cautionary measures are strongly recommended for residents in hilly areas due to the sustained rainfall expected in the forthcoming days. Importantly, there are no fishing restrictions along the Kerala-Karnataka coasts. However, individuals contemplating fishing activities in the Lakshadweep shores are also urged to exercise caution.
