Kerala Faces Rain Fury: Yellow Alert in 4 Districts, Tragedy Strikes in Thiruvananthapuram

Relentless rains continue to batter Kerala, driven by cyclonic circulations in the southeastern Arabian Sea. The state remains on high alert due to the looming threat of isolated downpours. Yellow alerts have been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Malappuram districts.

The cyclonic circulations, originating over the southeastern Arabian Sea, are currently hovering near Lakshadweep and the Tamil Nadu coasts. These atmospheric patterns are expected to result in a depression over the Kerala region by Wednesday, moving northwestward and potentially intensifying into a deep depression. If the depression lingers over Kerala’s coasts, heavy rainfall is anticipated. In response to this weather threat, fishing activities have been prohibited along the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Tragically, amidst the heavy rains, a devastating incident occurred in Thiruvananthapuram. Vikraman (67), residing in Balanagar, Vettukad, was discovered dead in his home on Monday. His family had relocated to Kazhakkootam as their house was inundated due to the incessant rains. Vikraman’s lifeless body was found around 11 AM. Police and forensic officials have investigated the scene, and the body has been sent to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College for post-mortem examination. The Valiyathura police have registered a case regarding this unfortunate incident.
