The 10-step Korean skin-care routine

We’ve all heard about the Korean obsession with having healthy, glowing skin. Achieving this is not easy, and a variety of regimens must be followed. We were all taught that the three steps of skincare are cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. But there’s more to it, such as essences, sheet masks, and serums. We’ve gone over the 10-step skincare routine that Koreans use. Take note of this.

Oil-based cleanser

This is the most important step, but it is also the simplest. The first cleanser used is an oil-based cleanser, which not only removes impurities, dirty pores, and make-up residue but also protects the good bacteria present on the skin’s lipid layer.

Double cleansing

The second cleanser used is water-based, which aids in the removal of any unwanted oil from the previous step. It also aids in the removal of dirt and sweat, as well as the refreshing of your pores.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating at least 2-3 times per week, depending on your dermatologist’s recommendation, improves skin tone and texture by removing dead skin cells and preventing pore-clogging. Exfoliating can be done with scrubs or chemical liquids, depending on the texture of your skin.

Toner

A toner prepares the face for the next steps and helps to balance the PH level of your skin.

Essence

An essence, which is essentially a water-based combination of serum and toner, will keep your skin hydrated and supple. It is used to achieve bright, radiant skin free of unwanted pigmentation.

Ampoule/serum

This step restores hydration to your skin by using concentrated serums that also target wrinkles, skin ageing, dryness, and hyperpigmentation.

Sheet mask

A sheet mask is a well-known Korean product that is both gentle on the skin and simple to apply. This face-shaped mask contains serum and hydrating essence that nourishes the skin and is suitable for all skin types.

Eye cream

The skin around your eyes is the most sensitive on your face. Because the eye area is the first to show signs of wrinkles and ageing, eye cream aids in hydrating dry skin and maintaining youthful, glowing skin.

Moisturiser

A moisturiser seals in all of the amazing products used up to this point, rejuvenating the skin and beautifying the complexion.

Sunscreen is essential.
The most important step in this routine is to apply sunscreen because it prevents harmful UV rays from reaching your skin, lowering your risk of skin cancer and DNA damage. It also prevents unnecessary tanning.
