A child falls into a 150-foot borewell in Uttar Pradesh, prompting rescue efforts.

Agra: On Monday (June 14), a five-year-old child fell into a 150-foot-deep borewell while playing in Dhariyai village, police said, adding that a rescue operation is underway.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the Nibohara police station area of Fatehabad, Agra rural. So far, the child’s movement has been detected, and he is responding, according to Station House Officer Sooraj Prasad told.

“The rescue of the child was underway since the police received information about the incident,” he added.

According to an eyewitness, the child fell into the borewell dug by his father, Chhotelal.

“We dropped a rope into the borewell, which the child caught, and he’s been responding to our questions,” the villager explained.

District officials are on the scene at the borewell, overseeing the village’s ongoing rescue operations.
