Cold Case, one of the most eagerly anticipated Malayalam films, has become the latest to debut via OTT. The film, which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, was published on Amazon Prime Video today (June 30).
Piracy has also been a problem for the investigative crime thriller. On Telegram, Movierulz, Tamilrockers, and other piracy-based websites, Cold Case has been released. The abrupt leak may block the Prithviraj-viewership, starrer’s which has received great reviews from reviewers and audiences alike.
Since its premiere, Cold Case has received a slew of positive reviews, with many describing it as a gripping thriller. With his tremendous acting talents, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays a cop in the film, has surely impressed his followers as well as the general audience.
The film is written by Sreenath V Nathi and directed by Tanu Balak, a cinematographer turned director, and revolves around a murder inquiry that has a startling link to dark forces and otherworldly themes. The crime thriller is co-produced by Anto Joseph and Plan J Studios and stars Aditi Balan, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Suchitra Pillai, and Athmiya Rajan. The film also features late actor Anil Nedumangad, who died on December 25 last year after drowning in Kerala’s Malankara Dam.
In related news, the teaser and trailer for Cold Case were published on June 19 and 21, respectively. After Sufiyum Sujatayam, CU Soon, Joji, Halal Love Story, and Drishyam 2, the film has become the 6th Malayalam direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. Despite the fact that the Tanu Balak-directed film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release, the producers were forced to abandon the idea due to the second wave of COVID-19.
