A Kerala teen who went missing two years ago was discovered in TamilNadu with an infant.

The police found him on June 18 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, two years after a teen girl from Palakkad district in Kerala went missing. The young boy, now 16, is a four-month old child’s mother and lived with a 22-year old man who has yet to be found, according to police. When she was 14 years old when she was missing in 2019, the police say the couple was supposed to have rumbled.

The teenager is born in the Tamil Nadu region, Kozhinjampara, Palakkad. The Kozhinjampara Police filed the case of missing persons in response to the parent’s complaint. Although the task was to find her, police officials said she could not be traced.

John C, Deputy Police Superintendent (DySP), Crime Branch, told Media that a young person had been detected after a tip from Madurai. According to the police, a Madurai man, who worked with the mother of the girl earlier before she was missing, found her in the house. “She was called his wife and his family lived close to his house. We don’t know if they (relatives) knew her age. Now she’s a 4-month-old baby’s mother,” says DySp.

The baby and the girl were returned to Kerala. But the man is hanging away, said police. “I used to work in Palakkad with her mother before. We don’t know if the family knew they were living together, more detail needs to be looked for,” the official said.

A case against a man under sections of the Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act on the Protection of children is registered, and an attempt is being made to find him. One of the criticisms contained in the POCSO Act is that children are also sexually offended and that it criminalises mutual sex between adolescents. In this case, however, the man is six years older than the girl, which could possibly lead to care. Treatment is a process in which a person with a sexual interest in a child gains the trust of the child in order to sexually abuse the child.

Police also said the baby and the teenage girl would be collected for further legal proceedings with their DNA samples.

In fact, a 28-year-old who was missing from her home 10 years ago in Palakkad district was found to be living in his house with her partner all this while, obviously without his parents’ knowledge. It had confused many, since Sajitha managed to stay in a room in the house of her partner Rahman for a decade without the knowledge of others.
