No country was prepared when Covid struck; yoga helped: Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi: During the novel coronavirus pandemic, yoga became a source of inner strength for people and instilled faith in them that they could fight the virus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today. “Yoga shows us the way from stress to strength, from negativity to creativity,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address to the nation on the 7th International Yoga Day.

“No country was prepared when Covid appeared. Yoga became a source of inner strength at this time. Yoga promotes self-discipline and instils confidence in people that they can defeat the virus. Frontline fighters told me that they used yoga as a tool to combat the virus “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was dressed in an orange kurta, said.

PM Modi also stated that India will launch the M-Yoga application in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), which will include many videos of yoga training based on the Common Yoga Protocol in various languages around the world.

He believes that this will aid in the success of the “One World, One Health” motto.

“Yoga Day is not a traditional cultural festival in most of the world’s countries. People in such a difficult situation may forget or ignore it during this difficult time. On the contrary, people’s enthusiasm for yoga has grown, as has their love for it “The Prime Minister stated.

Yoga often provides us with a holistic approach to health, he said, noting that several studies on the benefits of yoga on our bodies and immunity are currently underway around the world.

“Yoga not only promotes physical but also mental well-being. Several studies on the effects of yoga on our bodies and immunity are taking place during Covid. At the start of online classes, we see yoga and breathing exercises being done. This aids children in their fight against the virus “Prime Minister Modi stated.

He emphasized the importance of yoga for one’s overall health, saying, “Yoga demonstrates how to transform stress into strength and negativity into creativity. Yoga teaches us that while there are many problems out there, we have infinite solutions within ourselves. We are the universe’s most powerful energy source “In a televised address to the nation, the Prime Minister said.

He claims that many schools now start their online classes with yogic exercises like pranayam, which physically prepares students to deal with Covid.

Every year on June 21, International Yoga Day is observed. In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly passed a draught resolution declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day. A total of 177 countries voted in favour of the resolution.

According to the United Nations website, the theme for Yoga Day this year is “Yoga for Well-Being,” which focuses on how yoga can help people achieve holistic health.
