India has recorded less than 50k cases of Covid, the lowest number in 91 days.

According to figures published on Tuesday by the Union Health Ministry, India registered less than 50,000 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 91 days, bringing the total number of cases to 2,99,77,861, while active cases dipped below 7 lakh for the first time in 79 days.

In a single day, 42,640 Covid infections were reported, while the mortality toll rose to 3,89,302, with 1,167 daily fatalities, the lowest in 68 days.

India administered 86.16 lakh vaccine doses, according to data released at 7 a.m., the highest single-day immunisation rate ever recorded in the world, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of active cases has decreased further to 6,62,521, accounting for 2.21 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.49 percent, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

In the last 24 hours, there has been a net decrease of 40,366 cases in the caseload.

In addition, 16,64,360 tests were performed on Monday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 detection tests performed in the country to 39,40,72,142, while the daily positivity rate has dropped to 2.56 percent. According to the ministry, it has been less than 5% for 15 days in a row.

The weekly positivity rate has dropped to 3.21%.

For 40 days in a row, recoveries outnumbered daily new cases.

According to the data, the number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 2,89,26,038, with a case fatality rate of 1.30 percent.

The COVID-19 tally in India reached 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. On May 4, India passed the dreadful 2 crore mark.
