Officials in Lakshadweep accuse Aisha Sultana of violating home quarantine rules.

The Lakshadweep administration accused filmmaker Ayesha Sulthana, who has been charged with sedition, of violating obligatory house quarantine laws and threatened her with harsh punishment if she did so again.

District Collector S Asker Ali, who is also the chairman of the Disaster Management Authority, issued a caution notice to Ms Sulthana, alleging that she left her place of stay on June 19 after being summoned by police for questioning, went to public places, and mixed with other people, in violation of the island’s seven-day mandatory home quarantine rule.

While in Kerala, Ayesha Sulthana, an islander, was arrested for sedition by Lakshadweep police.

After being summoned by the Kavaratti police in connection with the crime, she returned to the islands.

Ayesha Sulthana was exempted from the necessary quarantine clause, according to the administration, merely for the purpose of interrogation in the case against her.

It was claimed that she went out in public, engaged with the public, attended a First Line Treatment Center, and interacted with COVID-19 positive patients in violation of the home quarantine order.

“Consequently, you are therefore reminded that strict actions will be taken against you if you are breaking the quarantine regulation, which is stipulated as per the Standard COVID Protocol (SOP) that is in force in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep,” the administration said in its warning.

The Kavaratti police arrested her on June 9 after she claimed that the Centre utilised biological weapons against the people of Lakshadweep.

On June 7, she made this accusation during a debate televised by a Malayalam news station.

A BJP politician on the islands filed the complaint. After the first round of interrogation on Sunday, Ayesha Sulthana was permitted to depart. According to a person close to her, she has been ordered to appear in court again on Wednesday.
