Britney Spears versus. Dad in Court: “It’s Enough, I Want My Life Back”

Los Angeles: Britney Spears asked a judge to revoke an “abusive” guardianship that gave her father control of her affairs in 2008.
“I simply want my life back. It’s been 13 years, and it’s time to call it quits “Spears said during a 20-minute video link statement as adoring admirers yelled her name outside the courtroom. Jamie Spears has mostly overseen the 39-year-old star’s financial and personal life since her highly public breakdown more than a decade ago, prompting some admirers to launch a “FreeBritney” internet campaign in recent years.

During a speech in which Spears hardly paused to recover her breath, she revealed that she has been barred from having a contraceptive implant removed under the terms of the legal agreement despite her desire for additional children.
The mother of two described herself as “traumatized” and “depressed” as a result of the incident.
“I’m not pleased. I’m having trouble sleeping. I’m furious. That’s ridiculous “She said that she cries every day.
“This conservatorship is, in my opinion, abusive. I want improvements, and I believe I am deserving of the “Spears stated her case before Judge Brenda Penny.

The singer has rarely addressed the guardianship publicly, but her lawyer, Samuel Ingham, stated in April that Spears wished to face the court directly, which resulted in Wednesday’s hearing.

Spears has had a strained connection with her father for a long time.

Last year, she filed a petition to remove him from the conservatorship and give a financial institution sole control of her inheritance. Her court-appointed attorney stated that she was “afraid” of her father.

Devotees of Britney Spears have long examined her social media accounts for clues about her health and any indication that she is eager to break free of guardianship.

According to confidential court records obtained by the New York Times on Tuesday, Spears informed a court investigator that the conservatorship had “become an oppressive and controlling instrument against her” as early as 2016.

According to Spears, the guardianship system gave her “too much control… Too, too much!” and stopped her from making her own judgments about friendships, relationships, spending, and even the color of her kitchen cabinetry.

Following the February publication of the documentary “Framing Britney Spears,” which recounted her early mental health struggle and her father’s subsequent appointment as her guardian, Spears’ court case controversy erupted.

Spears said she was “embarrassed” by her portrayal in the documentary, in which fans assume she is being held captive and has been sending coded cries for rescue.

Following her divorce from Kevin Federline in 2006 and the subsequent loss of custody of her children the following year, Spears was seen barefoot and shaved-headed at a gas station by photographers.

Spears quickly returned to performing under her father’s custody. She released three albums, participated on numerous television shows, and even took up a residency in Las Vegas.
However, in January 2019, she abruptly stated that she would be discontinuing her performances until further notice.
Her father and colleagues, she claims, constantly threaten her.
“They’re going to punish me if I don’t do what they order me to do, what they enslave me to do,” she claimed.
Spears said that physicians forced her to take medication that made her feel “drunk,” and that she was not even permitted to change her clothes in private or drive her own car.
According to Jamie Spears’ lawyers, he has done a fantastic job handling his daughter’s finances.

However, in February, a judge determined that both Spears’ father and wealth manager Bessemer Trust would be in charge of the pop star’s funds, rejecting Jamie Spears’ plea to retain sole power to delegate investments.

Jamie’s counsel said in court that he was “sad to hear her in such suffering” and that he loved his daughter “very dearly.”
