COVID-19: Kerala reported 11,546 new cases on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases to 1L again.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 11,546 COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 28,65,871.
As many as 11,056 people were cured of the infection, bringing the total number of people cured to 27,52,492.
The number of active cases, which had remained below one lakh for the previous two days, has risen back to 1,00,230.

In the last 24 hours, 1,08,867 samples were tested, with a 10.6 per cent test positivity rate.
The state’s death toll has risen to 12,699, with 118 deaths reported on Friday.
81 of the positive cases were health workers, 70 were from outside the state, and 10,771 were infected through contact. The source of infection for 624 of them remains unknown.

Quarantine and testing
A total of 3,92,633 people are being watched in various districts. 3,66,650 are being quarantined at home or in institutions, while 25,983 are in hospitals.

On Friday, 2,388 people were admitted to hospitals.
So far, 2,25,06,647 samples have been sent for testing (including the augmented sample).
