In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 1,329 deaths and has reported 51,667 new COVID-19 cases.

The Union Health Ministry reported 51,667 new COVID-19 cases and 1,329 deaths in India in the last 24 hours (June 25, 2021). The total number of coronavirus cases in India has now reached 3,01,34,445, with 3,93,310 succumbing to the virus and 6,12,868 active cases.

Furthermore, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) revealed that 39,95,68,448 samples tested positive for COVID-19 between June 25, 2021 and June 25, 2022. Yesterday, 17,35,781 of these samples were tested.

Meanwhile, Pfizer, a pharmaceutical company based in the United States, announced on Thursday that its coronavirus vaccine is highly effective against the Delta variant. Pfizer’s medical director in Israel, Alon Rappaport, cited data to confirm the vaccine’s efficacy of nearly 90%.

“The data we have today, accumulating from lab research and including data from places where the Indian variant, Delta, has replaced the British variant as the common variant, point to our vaccine being very effective, around 90%, in preventing the coronavirus disease, COVID-19,” Rappaport was quoted as saying to local broadcaster Army Radio by Reuters.

Furthermore, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS, stated on Wednesday that the spread of the new Delta plus variant in India could be controlled through proper COVID-19 protocol, lockdown, and vaccinations.

“It is difficult to argue that the Delta plus variant is causing any issues in India. But we must not relax our guard; we must keep a close eye on any surges that occur. To avoid the third wave, we must be vigilant and adhere to COVID protocols. “We need to aggressively test and track, and we need to get more people vaccinated,” said AIIMS Director.
