Don’t worry if you receive a different dose of the covid vaccine; Dr. VK Paul

New Delhi:  The country’s top Covid 19 advisor Dr. VK Paul. He says that while the vaccine may be careful to receive the same dose of both doses, there is no need to worry if different doses are adopted.

The top-level expert’s statement comes after news broke about 20 people in a village in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh giving different vaccine doses. About 20 people were given the first dose of covishield and the second dose of co vaccine at Badani Primary Healthcare Centre in Siddharthnagar. No physical difficulties have been reported so far for those who have received different vaccines.

“Different doses are safe and there are plans to give it on a trial basis, VK Paul clarified.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Chaudhary, chief medical officer of Siddharthnagar, made it clear that the vaccine was given as negligence. He added that there was no central government’s guidance on administering different vaccine doses. A person needs to get the same vaccine for the first and second doses. The medical officer said an investigation would be conducted into the vaccine change and senior officials would inspect the site.

He said he would seek an explanation from those involved in the incident and take action against those found guilty. The first dose was given Covishield in the first week of April and the second dose was Co vaccine given on the 14th of May. The vaccine was given to 20 villagers.

Recipients of the vaccine told the media that they had not been contacted or tested by anyone in the health department after being vaccinated. They responded that the second dose was given to co vaccine after receiving the vaccine and that the doctor had told them it had happened by mistake.
