ICC Ends Suspension on Sri Lanka Cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially lifted its suspension of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), marking the end of a period of turmoil for the cricket board. The suspension was imposed in November due to concerns over government interference in SLC’s administration, particularly after the national cricket board faced dismissals from the ministry of sport following unsatisfactory results in the men’s World Cup. The ICC has now expressed satisfaction that Sri Lanka Cricket is no longer in breach of its membership obligations, leading to the immediate lifting of the suspension, offering a positive outlook for the future of cricket in Sri Lanka.

The decision to reinstate Sri Lanka Cricket comes after a review of the governance issues that led to the suspension. The ICC’s move is expected to bring stability to the cricketing landscape in Sri Lanka and pave the way for the national cricket board to resume its activities without the constraints of the suspension.
