Two people are injured in a massive fire at a Kolkata cinema hall.

New Delhi: A big fire at a closed cinema hall in Kolkata, West Bengal, injured at least two persons, according to a senior Fire Department official. On Friday night (July 2), some 15 fire tenders were summoned to the city’s Lake Town neighbourhood to put out a flame at the “Mini Jaya” hall. The caretaker of the hall and his wife, who were staying in a room on the top level of the structure, were injured in the incident, according to Fire Minister Sujit Bose.

According to Bose, the origin of the fire appears to be a stove on which the caretaker’s wife was cooking food.

“The fire appears to have started on the cooktop where the caretaker’s wife was cooking. The woman was brought to the hospital after suffering burn injuries. The caretaker was hurt as well “According to Bose.

Bidhannagar Police CP Supratim Sarkar, who was also present at the scene, said the fire started at 9.15 p.m. and the area’s electricity was turned off later.

The fire destroyed a large portion of the hall, as well as its projection room, known as Jaya II, according to a Fire Department spokesman.
