Pushkar Singh Dhami sworn-in as Uttarakhand’s 11th CM

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took oath as the eleventh chief minister of Uttarakhand on Sunday, a day after being elected as the leader of the BJP’s legislature party in the hill state, paving the way for his elevation to the state’s top post.

Along with him, BJP MLAs Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat, Bansidhar Bhagat, Bishan Singh Chuphal, Subodh Uniyal, Arvind Pandey, Ganesh Joshi, and Yashpal Arya took their oaths as members of the new State Cabinet.

At 5 p.m., the oath-taking ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan. Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya administered the oath of office on Dhami.

Tomar, the party’s central observer, announced the name of Dhami, a two-term MLA from Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district. Dhami, a two-term MLA from Khatima, had never been a minister in the state government, but he became Uttarakhand’s youngest chief minister. He is the state’s third chief minister in less than four months.

Tirath Singh Rawat, who quit late Friday night, was replaced by Dhami.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the son of an ex-serviceman, was born in Kanalichhina village in Pithoragarh district in 1975. He has a law degree and has volunteered for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad as well (ABVP). Between 2002 and 2008, Dhami served as the president of the BJP Yuva Morcha in Uttarakhand on two occasions.

He is thought to be a protégé of Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

“A common party member has been offered the opportunity to serve the government. I am grateful to the party’s top leadership “Dhami told reporters in the room.

According to former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Dhami was a “unanimous” choice of all 56 members of the BJP’s legislature party. “We are confident that under his leadership, Uttarakhand would reach new heights of growth in the future years,” Rawat added.
