Coronavirus: 19 persons test positive in Kerala on Tuesday

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday announced that 19 more persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the state. Among the 19 persons, 10 are from Kannur, 4 are from Palakkad, 3 are from Kasargod while one each is from Malappuram and Kollam districts. Meanwhile, 16 infected patients tested negative for the virus on Tuesday, the CM added.

9 out of the 10 people who tested positive in Kannur had recently returned from abroad while one contracted the disease through contact. The CM added that checking at the borders need to be intensified as one new patient each from Palakkad, Malappuram and Kollam had recently returned from Tamil Nadu.

At present, 117 people are undergoing treatment for coronavirus in the state. While 36,335 persons are under home quarantine, 332 people are kept under observation at various hospitals. 102 persons have been newly admitted to hospitals. Out of the 20,252 samples sent for examination, 19,442 have returned negative, the CM added.
