Kejriwal: Delhi Records 8,500 New Covid Cases, Positivity Rate Drops to 12%

New Delhi, India For the first time since April 10, Delhi has recorded less than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced today. The number of new cases has reduced to 8,500, and the city’s test positivity rate has dropped to 12%, according to Kejriwal during a digital press conference. “On April 20, there were over 28,000 cases in Delhi…it has now dropped to 8,500. The percentage of people who are optimistic has dropped to 12%. By April 22, it had reached 36%,” Kejriwal claimed. “We must reduce the number of cases to zero. We cannot relax… we must carefully adhere to the lockdown,” the chief minister stated. Around 10,000 beds have been moved out in the last 10 days, he said, indicating that the city’s second wave is winding down. However, ICU beds are still occupied, indicating that the number of serious COVID-19 patients has not decreased, according to the Delhi CM. Kejriwal further stated that the Delhi government will provide financial assistance to families who have lost earning members due to the coronavirus, as well as fund the expense of schooling and parenting for children orphaned by the pandemic. “I know a lot of kids who have lost both of their parents. I’d like to inform them that I am still present. Do not think of oneself as an orphan. “The government would look after their education and upbringing,” Kejriwal declared. “I know older people who have lost children. They were reliant on their incomes. I’d like to inform them that their son (Kejriwal) is still alive. The government will assist all such families who have lost earning members, according to the chief minister.

According to the health department, the national capital reported 10,489 new cases and 308 additional fatalities on Thursday, with a positive rate of 14.24 percent.
