According to the mother, her son’s suicide was caused by his addiction to the Free Fire game.

Thiruvananthapuram: According to his mother, a first-year degree student who committed suicide two months ago in Thiruvananthapuram was addicted to the Free Fire game.

The woman claimed that her son, Anujith Anil, spent hours playing the game in the days leading up to his death.

Anujith was a gifted student. His behaviour changed, however, after he became addicted to the mobile game. He stopped listening to his mother and sister once he became preoccupied with the game. He also didn’t pay attention to his niece.

After Class 10, he began playing mobile games. Within three years, he was completely addicted to the game. He fought with his family in order to obtain an expensive mobile phone on which to play the Free Fire game. He used to play the game for 20 hours straight, without stopping. He was constantly arguing with his family in order to get money to recharge his phone. His demand was that the phone be recharged for a higher amount.

Free Fire is an online shooter game in which multiple players engage in a fierce battle. The players’ goal is to stay as long as possible in the safe zone. It was created by Singaporean company Garena.
