Be aware of fraudsters! The UIDAI has issued a warning about Aadhaar card verification scams.
Aadhaar cards have been linked to a number of frauds. Fraudsters are attempting to steal Aadhaar Card IDs in order to either steal money or take advantage of the numerous services that can be obtained through it. To be safe, people should immediately cross-check their Aadhaar card, and they should not take any such card as identity verification from anyone without first checking it.
In this regard, the UIDAI turned to Twitter to notify the public and issued a message that everyone should read. According to the tweet, “Be wary of fraudsters by using the hashtag #BewareOfFraudsters. Any Aadhaar number can be verified online or offline. Scan the QR code on #Aadhaar to validate offline. To verify online, go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.” Another option is accessible for individuals who prefer to do it using an application. “You can also do it using the #mAadhaar app,” the UIDAI tweeted.
In addition, the UIDAI stated that anyone who is experiencing difficulties should contact the phone numbers shown on the graphic. “For any assistance/query: Call 1947 (Toll-free) or email [email protected],” says the legend on the graphic. It has also provided social media passwords so that individuals can stay up to date on the latest developments in the case.
On July 8, UIDAI sent a new tweet warning people not to accept any Aadhaar card without first cross-checking it. According to the tweet, “Aadhaar is not a 12-digit number. Before recognising the Aadhaar as proof of identification, it is advised that it be validated.”
“Click: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify and validate it online in 2 simple steps,” it continued.
Here’s how to check an Aadhaar card online from the convenience of your own home:
1. Go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify on the official UIDAI website.
2. Carefully type in the 12-digit Aadhaar card number.
3. Fill out the Captcha.
4. The option to ‘Proceed to Verify’ will appear. Select it by clicking on it.
Depending on the condition of the Aadhaar card, the system might either authenticate it or reject it.
