New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell seized more than 350 kilogrammes of heroin valued at around Rs 2,500 crores in a major bust on Saturday (July 10). So far, four people have been arrested in the case that is bringing down the cutains on a massive international drug syndicate, three from Haryana and one from Delhi.

According to Special CP Neeraj Thakur of the Delhi Police Special Cell, the team of DCP Pramod Singh Kushwaha, ACP Lalit Mohan Negi, and Sub Inspector Sundar Gautam received information about the International Drug Syndicate, which was then passed on to the Special Cell team.

Four people were arrested after a large amount of heroin was recovered from a house in Faridabad, Haryana. Gurjot from Punjab, Gurpreet from Kashmir, and Hazrat Ali from Afghanistan have been identified.

Rizwan, a Kashmiri, was apprehended. He was on his way to deliver one kilogramme of drugs. After questioning him, the other three members of the syndicate were apprehended. He also provided details about the factory in Faridabad.

“It was delivered to Mumbai in the form of legitimate export material from Afghanistan via Iran’s port. They’ve also set up a makeshift factory in MP. Their Faridabad branch was also raided “Thakur stated.

Opium is hidden in imported bags such as talc stone, gypsum powder, basil seeds, and packaging materials such as guinea bags or cartons grown in some parts of Afghanistan. This heroin shipment is then delivered to the JNPT Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai. After arriving in India, heroin was separated from the imported goods and transported to Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, for processing. The raw material was refined to a high standard before being supplied. This heroin was also delivered to cities other than Delhi, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Aside from heroin, approximately 100 kilogrammes of chemicals were also recovered.

It is said to be one of the largest drug consignments ever seized by the Special Cell, as well as one of the largest drug syndicates ever exposed. The police are looking into a possible narco-terrorism connection in the case. Suspects are currently being interrogated.
