Heavy rain is expected in Kerala over the next five days, as a depression forms in the Bay of Bengal. In various districts, the central Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts. Meanwhile, the State Disaster Management Authority urged residents of low-lying areas, river banks, and hilly regions prone to landslides and landslips to be cautious.

For Sunday, an orange alert has been issued in the districts of Idukki, Malapuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod (July 11). Orange alerts have been issued for Monday in Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod (July 12).

A Red alert indicates heavy to extremely heavy rains of more than 20 cm in 24 hours, while an Orange alert indicates very heavy rains ranging from 6 cm to 20 cm. A yellow alert indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 6 to 11 cm.
