Heavy rain is expected in Kerala over the next five days, as a depression forms in the Bay of Bengal. In various districts, the central Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts. Meanwhile, the State Disaster Management Authority urged residents of low-lying areas, river banks, and hilly regions prone to landslides and landslips to be cautious.

A Red alert indicates heavy to extremely heavy rains of more than 20 cm in 24 hours, while an Orange alert indicates very heavy rains ranging from 6 cm to 20 cm. A yellow alert indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 6 to 11 cm.
