COVID-19: India has 31,443 new cases and 2,020 deaths.

New Delhi: According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday, India’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 4,10,784 with 2,020 new deaths recorded after Madhya Pradesh reconciled its fatality data, while 31,443 new coronavirus cases were reported, the lowest in 118 days.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India reached 3,09,05,819.

The number of active cases has decreased to 4,31,315 and accounts for 1.40 percent of all infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 97.28%, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

On Monday, 17,40,325 tests were carried out, bringing the total number of COVID-19 detection tests carried out in the country to 43,40,58,138.

The daily optimism rate has dropped to 1.81 percent. According to the ministry, it has been less than 3% for 22 days in a row, with the weekly positivity rate standing at 2.28 percent.

According to the data, the number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 3,00,63,720, with a case fatality rate of 1.32 percent.

The total number of vaccine doses administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has reached 38.14 crore.

The COVID-19 tally in India reached 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark.

The new fatalities total 2,020 people, with 1,481 from Madhya Pradesh, 146 from Maharashtra, and 100 from Kerala.

So far, 4,10,784 deaths have been reported in the country, including 1,26,024 in Maharashtra, 35,896 in Karnataka, 33,454 in Tamil Nadu, 25,018 in Delhi, 22,700 in Uttar Pradesh, 17,927 in West Bengal, and 16,193 in Punjab.

The ministry emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the deaths.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-by-state distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
