For the first time, two cases of Covid have been reported in the Edamalakudy tribal hamlet.

Munnar: The disease has been confirmed in the tribal hamlet of Edamalakudy here for the first time since the Covid outbreak was reported. The pandemic was discovered in a 40-year-old woman from Irumbukallukudy and a 24-year-old man from Idalipparakudy.

After being admitted to Kottayam Medical College due to other physical discomforts, the woman was confirmed with Covid. The 24-year-old tested positive after being tested at a private hospital in Munnar.

Due to strict restrictions, not a single person in Edamalakudy has been infected with Covid in the last two years. Only after thorough examinations were outsiders allowed to enter the village. Government officials and others with emergency needs were permitted to enter the area in this manner.

Idukki MP Dean Kuriakose entered Edamalakudy with a vlogger two weeks ago, sparking several controversies. It was claimed that the MP and his friends went to the tribal hamlet despite being denied permission by the health department.
