New Delhi: A cook has made the “world’s most expensive burger,” which sold for 5,000 euros (about Rs 4,42,125) on eBay. ‘The Golden Boy’ is the name of the dish.

Robbert Jan de Veen of De Daltons restaurant in Voorthuizen, Netherlands, created an extravagant hamburger that costs €5,000 per piece. He even posted a photo of the dish to his Instagram account.

The burger is made with Beluga caviar, king crab, saffron, Wagyu beef, Spanish Paleta Iberico, white truffle, and English cheddar cheese, according to the diner’s official website. It also features a BBQ sauce created from Kopi Luwak, one of the world’s most expensive coffee beans.

The bun for the world’s most costly item is fashioned with Dom Pérignon champagne dough and covered with gold leaf.

“Breaking a world record has been a boyhood dream of mine, and it feels incredible,” Veen said, according to Geo News.

In 2011, a restaurant in Oregon, United States, created the world’s most costly burger, which cost USD 5,000 and weighed 352.44 kg at the time.

According to The National, the burger was sold to Remia International, a Dutch corporate company. Rober Willemse, chairman of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association, then ate it. Veen donated the proceeds from the sale to a non-profit organisation.
