Kerala reports 496 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours

Kerala reported 496 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was declined to 2.93 per cent. The district-wise positive cases: Ernakulam-138, Thiruvananthapuram-70, Kottayam-56, Kozhikode-43, Pathanamthitta-40, Kollam-29, Thrissur -29, Alappuzha-22, Kannur-19, Idukki-15, Malappuram-11, Palakkad- 10, Wayanad-10 and Kasaragod- 4. A total of 16,883 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

14,838 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this,14,412 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 426 people are in hospitals. 71 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday. Among the 4,051 active Covid cases reported, only 12 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.

No deaths were reported within the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the health department reported 138 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 3 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 67,772 in the state.

Meanwhile, 692 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 113, Kollam- 27, Pathanamthitta-50, Alappuzha-5, Kottayam-61, Idukki- 62, Ernakulam-172, Thrissur- 61, Palakkad- 8, Malappuram- 19, Kozhikode-58, Wayanad- 34, Kannur- 21 and Kasaragod- 2. 64,57,993 people were recovered from the disease so far.
