PM Narendra Modi warns CMs of North-East states that seeing crowds without masks in hill stations is a source of concern.

Crowds without masks in hill stations are a source of concern, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tells North-East state chief ministers.

During the virtual meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed the Chief Ministers that the COVID-19 situation in some areas is concerning and that they must be vigilant and act quickly to prevent the virus from spreading further.

“It is true that COVID-19 has had a significant impact on tourism, business, and business, but today I will declare that it is not acceptable to have large crowds at markets in hill stations without wearing masks,” PM Modi remarked.

Rejecting the premise that people want to enjoy themselves before the third wave arrives, PM Modi stated that it is important to understand that the ‘third wave will not come on its own.’

The Prime Minister also informed the chief ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim that tighter measures at the micro-level are required to contain the virus.

He also emphasized the importance of micro-containment zones and stated that everyone must work together to stop the third wave of COVID-19.

We must keep a close check on each COVID-19 version. Prevention and treatment are critical in such a volatile environment,” Prime Minister Modi reminded the chief ministers.

PM Modi further stated that the vaccination programme must be continued in order to combat the third wave of coronavirus.

It should be highlighted that, while the majority of the country has experienced a consistent drop in COVID-19 levels, the northeast region has seen the number of infections either rise or remain stable in comparison to the national trend.
