The soft launch of Sputnik V will not be postponed, according to a statement released by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

New Delhi: Dr Reddy’s Laboratories issued a statement on Monday (July 12, 2021), stating that the soft launch of COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V has not been postponed. The Hyderabad-based company stated that neither the soft commercial launch nor the ramp-up work in India have been halted.

It further stated that the statewide soft launch of Sputnik V has reached more than 50 cities and towns across the country, and that the commercial roll-out of the Russian vaccine will be stepped up in the coming weeks.

The soft launch roll-out of Sputnik V, which began in Hyderabad, has now scaled up quickly and reached other Indian cities, according to Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

“For this aim, Dr Reddy’s has worked with prominent hospitals across the country,” the statement continued, “all of whom have successfully administered Sputnik V in India, including continuing commercial roll-out to the public.”

Dr. Reddy’s clarification came amid reports that a shortage of Sputnik V second dose would cause the commercial launch to be delayed.

It should be mentioned that the company has reportedly administered more than 1.95 lakh pills at hospitals across India during the soft launch. The company, which had planned a full roll-out in mid-June, is said to have received about 30 lakh first doses and 3.60 lakh second doses so far.
