Today, Prime Minister Modi will host a Covid-19 review meeting with chief ministers from northeastern states.

Covid-19 instances have recently increased in the northern states. Earlier this month, the central government dispatched multidisciplinary expert teams to six states, four of which were in the northeast: Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.

According to news organisations quoting sources acquainted with the matter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have a virtual meeting with the chief ministers of northeastern states on Tuesday to discuss the Covid-19 situation before of a probable third wave of the pandemic. According to the sources, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram have all been invited to the high-level meeting with the Prime Minister on July 13.

According to government sources, Prime Minister Modi will have a video conference with the chief ministers of the northeastern states on July 13 at 11 a.m. The suggested meeting comes after Union cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba met with officials from the northeastern states’ home departments last Wednesday, amid concerns about the region’s escalating incidence of coronavirus illness.

Despite a drop in the number of cases across India, Covid-19 instances have recently increased in the northeastern regions. Earlier this month, the central government dispatched multidisciplinary expert teams to six states, four of which were in the northeast: Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, over 80% of Covid-19 cases in India are currently being seen in 90 districts. It went on to say that 14 of them are from the northeast.
