At least three people have died and several more have been injured after falling into a well in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh

On Thursday, at least three persons perished and numerous others were injured after falling into a 40-foot-deep well in the Ganjbasoda area of Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district (July 15). The well collapsed as people gathered around it, and approximately 30 people fell into it. The rescue operation is being carried out by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, and administration.

According to state minister Vishvas Sarang, who spoke to ANI, “Three bodies have been recovered and 19 people have been rescued. The NDRF and SDRF are also present. The land here is prone to subsidence, which occurs on a regular basis. It will be difficult to estimate the final cost until the operation is completed.”

Late last night, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter to express his sympathies for the deaths in the disaster and to say that rescue efforts are still ongoing.

When a crowd gathered at the well’s wall to rescue a child who had fallen in, the occurrence occurred. However, due to the large number of people there, the pressure on the area surrounding the well increased, and the well’s wall fell, resulting in scores of people plunging into it.
