New Delhi: India recorded 38,079 additional COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of infections to 3,10,64,908, while the death toll rose to 4,13,091 with 560 new fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry (July 17, 2021). The number of active coronavirus infections in India has risen to 4,24,025.

In a 24-hour period, active COVID-19 cases reduced by 6,397, according to the Union health ministry. The optimism rate for the week is 2.10 percent. According to the ministry, the daily positive rate was 1.91 percent, and it has been less than three percent for 26 days in a row.

The Indian Council of Medical Research stated on Saturday that the total number of samples examined up to the 16th of July is 44,20,21,954, including 19,98,715 samples tested yesterday.

According to the ministry, 167 people died in Maharashtra and 130 people died in Kerala. In total, 4,13,091 deaths have been reported across the country, with Maharashtra accounting for 1,26,727 deaths, Karnataka for 36,079, Tamil Nadu for 33,652, Delhi for 25,023 deaths, Uttar Pradesh for 22,711, West Bengal for 17,980, and Punjab for 16,215 deaths.

According to the government, comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the deaths. “Our data are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-by-state distribution of figures is still being verified and reconciled.
