On the 16th day of funeral, the Vandiperiyar girl’s family celebrates her birthday
Vandiperiyar: On July 16, the parents of a young girl who was brutally raped and murdered in Vandiperiyar celebrated her 7th birthday. They burst into tears as they cut the birthday cake. Even bystanders were moved to tears as they watched them prepare their late daughter’s favourite dishes.
The 6-year-old girl was raped and murdered by hanging alive 16 days ago in Churakkulam. A 22-year-old man from the area was apprehended in connection with the heinous crime. The girl’s birthday and the 16th day of her funeral happened to fall on the same day.
The neighbourhood is home to more than 15 families, and the girl was everyone’s pet. People remember her as a chatty little girl who won the hearts of everyone she met. They had all celebrated her sixth birthday and given her gifts. But she would never be able to relive that happy moment.
The girl’s relatives and neighbours, on the other hand, chose the 16th day of the funeral to celebrate her birthday. They prepared her favourite dishes, desserts, and ice cream, as well as a birthday cake with her name elegantly written on it. Rather than cutting it joyfully, her father did it with a loud cry of anguish. They all shared a piece of cake in honour of the little one who had passed away.
