As per co-founder Larry Sanger, one can no longer trust Wikipedia because it plainly favours left-leaning ideologies

Larry Sanger, a co-founder of Wikipedia, has warned that the website is now nothing more than ‘propaganda’ for the Left’s ‘establishment,’ and that it can no longer be believed.

Wikipedia is the world’s fifth most popular website, with an estimated 6.1 billion visitors. On the website, you can get information on practically any subject.

Sanger told Freddie Sayers of the UnHerd online magazine that the website he developed had lost its neutrality in recent years.

Instead, he claims, Wikipedia has become a reservoir for official propaganda.

“Can you always rely on Wikipedia to tell you the truth? It depends on what you believe to be the truth “According to Sanger, who departed the site in 2002.

Sanger explained to Unherd, “You can’t use the Daily Mail or Fox News as sources. It is prohibited. It means that if a controversy does not arise in the mainstream centre-Left media, it will not appear on Wikipedia.”

He went so far as to use the Wikipedia entry on US Vice President Joe Biden as an example of leftist bias.

“Republicans have expressed worries about Biden, but the piece does not address them. The article will not provide you with anything approximating a Republican perspective on Biden.”

This isn’t the first time Sanger has questioned Wikipedia’s impartiality.

In a blog post last year, he said that Wikipedia no longer has an effective neutrality policy and is blatantly biassed toward left-wing ideology.

Sanger also lambasted Wikipedia’s coverage of the Coronavirus pandemic as biassed during the Unherd interview.

He claims that the platform just repeats the viewpoints of the World Health Organization, the World Economic Council or World Economic Forum, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other establishment mouthpieces such as Dr. Anthony Fauci.
