The world is seeking the secret behind green egg yolk

Kerala: ‘Green Egg’ from Malappuram district is sent to the research centre for further studies. The three-member team of researchers from Thrissur Mannuthi went to Shihabuddin’s house and examined the domestic animals. The team arrived at the behest of Dr M.R. Shashindranath, Vice-Chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

University Poultry Farm Head Dr Binoj Chacko, Asst. Professors Dr Sankara Lingam, s. Harikrishnan was in the team. The team arrived around 10 am and collected detailed information from Shihabuddin. The main concern was the feeding, care and characterization of chickens. The officers who arrived at the farm spent about half an hour there. The team investigated the method of rearing chickens and examined the characteristics of green eggshells. The team took the boiled egg, eggshell etc., for further study.

There are about 50 chickens on the farm. The egg colour of six chickens is found green and Shihabuddin sells these high on demand egg for 1000 rupees per one.
