India records 41,157 new Covid cases, while active cases fall to 4.2 lakh

New Delhi: According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday, India recorded 41,157 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 3,11,06,065, while the death toll rose to 4,13,609, with 518 more fatalities.

The number of active cases has decreased to 4,22,660, accounting for 1.36 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.31 percent, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

It said that active COVID-19 cases have decreased by 1,365 in a span of 24 hours.

According to the ministry, 19,36,709 tests were performed on Saturday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 detection tests performed in the country to 44,39,58,663.

According to the data, the number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 30269796, while the case fatality rate has increased to 1.33 percent.

The total number of vaccine doses administered as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign has reached 40.49 crore.

Last year, India’s COVID-19 tally reached 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.

It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19, last year.

On May 4, India passed the two-crore-case mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore-case mark.
