IMD Issues Yellow Alerts for Kerala as Isolated Heavy Rainfall Expected Over Five Days

Due to the emergence of a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for various districts in Kerala over the next five days.

Yellow alerts have been issued as follows:

  • September 28: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
  • September 29: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
  • September 30: Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
  • October 1: Kozhikode and Kannur.

These regions are expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms during the next five days. Residents residing in hilly areas are advised to exercise caution, and fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into the sea during this period.
