Schools and colleges in the state will open on June 1; Classes online

The new academic year in the state will begin on June 1 itself. This time too, classes will be online in the solid background. The entrance festival will also be online. There will be a system to view classes through the kite victors channel and online.

The decision on the opening of schools came at a meeting chaired by Education Minister V. Sivankutty. Currently classes 1 to 10 start on June 1. The decision on starting plus two classes may be delayed as the plus one classes and exam are yet to be completed.

Classes in colleges will start on June 1. The decision was taken at a meeting of vice-chancellors chaired by Higher Education Minister R Bindu. The minister also directed that the final year undergraduate and postgraduate examinations are scheduled from June 15 and the results published by July 31.

The Education Department had earlier issued directions on the class ascent, admission, and release certificates in government and aided schools in the state. The proposal states that all students in classes I to VIII of the state should be ascended to the next class under the Right to Education Act.  Considering the current unusual situation, the proposal is to give class ascent to the entire class IX children…
