HotShots is the pornographic content app that is at the centre of the Raj Kundra scandal

Raj Kundra, the husband of Shilpa Shetty, was detained by Mumbai Police on Monday (July 19) for reportedly being a “major conspirator” in a case involving the production and distribution of pornographic films using mobile apps. Pornography is prohibited in India. The HotShots app, which has since been deleted from the Google and Apple app stores, is at the centre of the dispute.

What is the HotShots app?

According to reports, the HotShots app is the “world’s first 18+ app,” including some of the “world’s hottest” models and celebrities in exclusive photographs, short films, and steamy movies — implying soft-to-hard porn.

Several websites still have the Android Application Package (APK) for the app. The app’s store description offered “secret content from steamy photoshoots, short movies, and experience of the lifestyle of celebrities from all around the world” and promised “HD videos & short movies with unequalled exposure.” Furthermore, the app purportedly provided services such as live conversation with “some of the world’s hottest models.”

Contests and subscriptions:

According to media sources, the app’s original material was only available to paying members. According to several social media posts, the app also conducted a Miss HotShot 2019 competition, with ladies requesting that netizens download the app and vote for them.

The case of Raj Kundra:

Raj Kundra and his brother-in-law Pradeep Bakshi are accused of being the masterminds of a worldwide pornographic film ring that operated out of India and the United Kingdom. Kundra and his wife Shilpa Shetty control Viaan Industries Ltd, while Bakshi, a British citizen married to Kundra’s sister, is the chairman of London-based Kenrin Ltd.

According to the Mumbai Police, a case involving pornographic films was filed in February by the Crime Branch. New performers were allegedly promised roles in web series and short tales and were asked to perform daring scenarios at tryouts. “They (young aspiring actresses) were contacted for auditions and, after being chosen, were forced to perform bold scenes before moving on to semi-nude and finally full-nude shootings. Some of them were vehemently opposed and had gone to the cops “Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), stated.

“Raj Kundra’s company, Viaan, was discovered to have a tie-up with Kenrin, a London-based company that operates the notorious smartphone application Hotshots, after a thorough examination. Hotshots, which was based in Mumbai, uploaded all naked content made in the city “Added he.

Following the creation of the content, the two companies — Viaan and Kenrin — allegedly made it available on mobile apps, offering subscriptions similar to those found on mainstream OTT platforms, and publicizing it on social media, all of which were illegal because pornography in any form is prohibited in India.

According to the police, Raj Kundra’s offices were searched with the authorization of the court, and a few clips were discovered.
