COVID-19: 12,818 cases reported in Kerala on Thursday, bringing the final tally to 32L

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 12,818 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the state’s total to 32,00534.

As many as 13,454 people were cured of the infection, taking the total recoveries to 30,72,895.

In the last 24 hours, 1,03,543 samples were tested, with a 12.38 percent test positivity rate.

The Health Department has been directed to conduct a mass testing campaign with three lakh tests on Friday (July 23), with a special focus on districts where the test positivity rate is greater than 10%.

“Furthermore, the number of daily tests shall be increased immediately to the peak testing capacity for effective pandemic containment,” it said.

According to a press release from Health Minister Veena George, the number of active cases has reached 1,28,881. For the past 22 days, the caseload has remained above one lakh.
