Kiran, Vismaya’s husband, is accused of dowry harassment and surrenders the day following her death.

S Kiran Kumar, the husband of Vismaya(22), who was discovered dead on June 21, surrendered to Sooranad police on the same night. Vismaya V Nair, a final-year Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery student from Kollam district, was discovered dead at Kiran Kumar’s house in Sasthamnada, near Sasthamkotta. Her family claims she was assaulted over dowry issues and that this was a murder rather than a suicide.

Vismaya died two days after she confessed to a cousin that her husband, a Motor Vehicle Department worker, had subjected her to terrible domestic violence. Police had opened an investigation after receiving a complaint from Vismaya’s relatives following her death.

According to Sooranad police, Kiran is being questioned, and other people will be questioned in the matter.

Vismaya had written to her cousin about how, after abusing her, her husband allegedly pulled back her hair and stamped on her face. In the message, she states that she has not told anyone else about the assault. Injuries on her face, shoulder, and hands are visible in images she shared with her cousin. The assault was also highlighted in communications as being frequent.

Vismaya’s family informed Media that as dowry, they handed her 100 sovereigns of gold, more than an acre of land, and a Toyota Yaris automobile. Kiran, on the other hand, was dissatisfied with the car’s mileage and preferred cash. Kiran had struck Vismaya in front of her parents a few months before, and the family had taken him to the police station. The police, on the other hand, pressed on a compromise. Vismaya stayed at her house after the incident, but Kiran returned her three months later, and she ceased visiting her father and brother after that. Despite informing her mother about assaults in the previous three months, Vismaya remained at Kiran’s residence.
