According to the autopsy report, Anannyah had unhealed wounds on her private parts

Kochi: The post-mortem report of transgender activist Anannyah Kumari Alex revealed unhealed wounds on her private parts, allegedly from a year ago’s sex reassignment surgery.

According to reports, Anannyah was presumably in pain even when she smiled for the cameras in March of this year after becoming the first transgender person to file nomination papers for the Kerala Assembly elections.

Anannyah, on the other hand, announced her withdrawal from the candidacy against IUML strongman PK Kunhalikutty in Vengara, claiming that her party workers insulted her and allegedly called her a “prostitute.”

On Tuesday, the 28-year-old was discovered hanging in a flat in Edappally. The following day, hundreds of members of the LGBTQ community demonstrated against a private hospital in New York, claiming medical negligence.

Social Justice Minister R Bindu had requested that an autopsy be performed by a team of senior doctors, the findings of which led the police to suspect that Anannyah committed suicide.

The chief minister’s office has directed the DGP to conduct an investigation into allegations of medical negligence on the part of the doctors and staff at the hospital where Anannyah underwent surgery.

Kalamassery Circle Inspector PR Santhosh told Manorama Online that the accused doctors will be interviewed on Monday. Jiju, Anannyah’s live-in partner, allegedly committed suicide on Friday at a flat in Vyttila.

Anannyah was laid to rest on Thursday at the cemetery of her parish, St Joseph’s Church, Perumon, Mundackal in Kollam, in a service attended by hundreds.
