Tokyo Olympics 2020: Shooter Saurabh Chaudhary enters final

Saurabh Chaudhary of India finished first in the qualification round, securing a spot in the 10m Air Pistol Men’s final event at the Tokyo Olympics. Saurabh, the World No. 2, finished in the top eight after shooting 586 in six series. His test results were 95, 98, 98, 100, 98, and 97.

Saurabh shot a 95-point series in the first round of men’s 10m pistol qualification. His first ten shots were: 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, and he was ranked 17th after that.

Saurabh’s second ten shots totaled 98, moving him up to the ninth place. Saurabh’s cumulative score increased to 98 in the third series, propelling him to fifth place.

Saurabh hit a flawless 10 in the fourth series, improving his ranking to second, and he was going all guns blazing. Saurabh fired 98 and 97 on the fifth and sixth holes, respectively, to finish with a total score of 586 and qualify for the medal round.

In addition to the leader, China’s Zhang Bowen (586-18x), Germany’s Reitz (584-21x), Ukraine’s Pavlo Korostylov (581-15x), Foroughi (580-25x), Korea’s Kim Mose (579-20x), Chinese Pang Wei (578-22x), and Mikec (578-21x) have qualified.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Verma missed the cut, finishing 17th with a score of 575.

Abhishek has finished his first 10-shot set with a total score of 94 and was ranked 24th.

Abhishek’s second series earned him a score of 96 and a ranking of 21st, although he risked crashing out and missing the medal round. He began his third series with back-to-back 10s, propelling him to the 19th spot.

Abhishek shot 98,97,98, and 92 in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth series, but it wasn’t enough to get him to the medal round.

Elavenil Valarivan and Apurvi Chandela both failed to qualify for the medal round earlier on Saturday, finishing 16th and 36th in the women’s 10m air rifle qualification.
