New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India recorded 39,742 new COVID-19 cases and 535 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry (July 25, 2021). The overall number of coronavirus cases in India has now reached 3,13,71,901, of which 4,20,551 have died from the virus and 4,08,212 are active cases. In a 24-hour period, the active COVID-19 caseload decreased by 765 cases.

In the country, a total of 3,05,43,138 persons have recovered from COVID-19 infections. On Sunday, at least 39,972 persons recovered from the virus, bringing the national recovery rate to 97.36 percent.

“More than 45.37 crores (45,37,70,580) vaccine doses have been supplied to States/UTs so far, through all sources, with an additional 11,79,010 doses in the pipeline,” the Union Health Ministry said in a release.

According to PTI, India’s COVID-19 tally reached 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark.

So far, the country has reported 4,20,551 deaths, including 1,31,429 in Maharashtra, 36,352 in Karnataka, 33,889 in Tamil Nadu, 25,041 in Delhi, 22,749 in Uttar Pradesh, and 18,064 in West Bengal. The health ministry emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the deaths.
